  • July 2023: BASF expanded its Xitavo soybean seed portfolio with the addition of its 11 new high-yielding varieties for the 2024 growing season, featuring the Enlist E3 technology to combat difficult weeds.
  • June 2023: BASF, Syngenta, and Arisa collaborated to establish India's Wage Improvement in Seed Hybrids (WISH) initiative. This multi-stakeholder project aims to address child labor and promote compliance with minimum wage standards in the vegetable seed sector. The four-year project is co-funded with a grant from the Dutch Enterprise Agency (RVO).
  • May 2023: Advanta Seeds made an agreement with Embrapa (Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation) to develop hybrid canola seeds with nematode management potential.

  • August 2022: The Government of Uganda, with support from the Government of the Republic of Korea through the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), has launched a nine-year project to develop new varieties of vegetables, strengthen seed certification capacity, and improve the technical skills of vegetable farmers.
  • July 2022: Sixteen farmer groups in Odek Sub-county in Omoro district acquired planting seeds from the East African Ministries [EAM] under the Seed Effect Uganda Project.
  • November 2021: East-West Seed Company launched its new vegetable seeds into the African market. The products are Tomato Diva F1, Papa Gymbia F1, Hot Pepper Spicy F1, Hot Pepper Piquante Yellow F1, Watermelon Sweet Sangria F1, Gboma Eggplant (African Leafy Vegetables) Sika, and Cucumber Daewy F1.
  • September 2022: Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) partnered with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Sri Lanka to procure 200 metric ton of maize seeds for the maha season.
  • March 2021: CIC Agribusiness launched Hybrid seed Chilli (MICH HY1) at Kothmale, resulting in high growth and high vigor with a new type of polytunnel introduced by the envirodome system from Isreal.

April 2019: S&W Seed Company expanded its geographical presence in Asia-Pacific to develop hybrids and varieties of sorghum, to achieve higher sales. 

August 2022: DLF opened a new research station for forage, turf, and legumes in the 30-acre site in Bangor, Wisconsin. This site allows for a more natural evaluation of drought tolerance and nitrogen efficiency forage seeds.

  • December 2023: Pure Harvest Smart Farms acquired RedSea, a Saudi Arabian player that deals with climate-smart technology solutions. According to the acquisition terms, Pure Harvest took over RedSea’s existing six-hectare controlled-environment agriculture (CEA) production facility near Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Through this acquisition, the company aimed to increase its production of fresh produce in the Saudi Arabian market.
  • September 2023: Pure Harvest Smart Farms partnered with Richel Group (Richel), one of the leading organizations providing turnkey, mid- to high-tech greenhouse solutions worldwide. With the main focus on the Middle East and Asia, the partnership aimed to deploy over USD 150 million worth of smart growing systems promoting the production of fresh produce with the flexibility to expand the partnership into new markets of different geographies.
  • March 2023: AeroFarms expanded its indoor vertical farming ventures in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar. The company signed a joint venture agreement with the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia and established a vertical farm producing 1,100 metric tons of crops annually.
  • June 2024: The Misr Fertilizers Production Company (MOPCO) partnered with Scatec, a Norwegian Company, to build a green ammonia production plant that produces 150 thousand metric tons in Damietta, Egypt. The Egyptian government supported the project and invested USD 10 million.
  • March 2022: The Misr Fertilizers Production Company (MOPCO), which produces 2 million metric tons of urea annually, expanded its existing ABB DCS (distributed control system) to the latest version to optimize its operational efficiency, maximize uptime, and minimize downtime.
  • September 2023: Richel Group is in a three-year, exclusive strategic partnership with Pure Harvest Smart Farms to increase its efficiency in designing, manufacturing, and building high-tech greenhouses in challenging climates and distant regions, including the Middle East and Asia.
  • June 2023: Certhon and Living Greens Farm announced a strategic partnership to develop further and globally expand Living Greens Farm’s disruptive aeroponic growing technology. Certhon would bring its technological expertise and global network to this partnership to create and help market aeroponics technology outside North America.
  • February 2023: Heliospectra AB (publ) expanded its product portfolio and MITRA platform with MITRA Flex, the market’s first wirelessly controlled flexible far-red light. 
  • June 2023: Lion Brand Yarn acquired Quince & Co., a Maine-based premium hand-knitting yarn company in the United States focused on creating yarns with products for farmed natural and renewable fibers.
  • August 2022: The Ministry of Textiles approved the Pashmina Wool Development Scheme under the Integrated Wool Development Programme (IWDP) with a budget allocation of INR 29.25 crore (USD 3.5 million) for implementation during FY from 2021-22 to 2025-26 for the procurement and marketing of Pashmina wool in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
  • May 2024: The government of Canada is increasing funding to the Honey Bee Health Initiative by up to USD 1 million to help improve the resiliency and competitiveness of beekeeper operations in Ontario. The additional funding will help more Ontario beekeepers better protect their colonies over the winter and protect against invasive pests such as varroa mites which pose a serious threat to honeybee health.
  • August 2022: The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, for export promotion of honey involving exporters, stakeholders, and government officials in Chandigarh, Punjab launched a project under the part of the government’s AtmaNirbhar Bharat initiative to boost honey production, the government has approved an allocation of INR 500 crore (USD 60.5 million) for the National Beekeeping and Honey Mission (NBHM) for three years (2020-21 to 2022-23) to encourage farmers towards honey farming by ensuring quality production.
  • November 2023: CNH Industrial NV unveiled CR11 New Holland combine at Agritechnica '23. Its 775-horsepower C16 engine powers 2x24-inch rotors, while the 567-bushel (20,000-liter) grain tank ensures ample storage capacity. With a rapid six bushels (210 liters) per second unload rate, the CR11 minimizes grain loss.
  • November 2023: Yanmar Co. Ltd partnered with International Tractors Limited (ITL) to strengthen the product portfolio, network & service capabilities to serve customer needs. Through the extensive network of both companies, this strategic partnership was poised to broaden the market reach for both brands substantially. ITL and Yanmar aimed to provide unparalleled customer service & technologically advanced products across Europe by harnessing their collective expertise and resources.
  • September 2023: John Deere and Yara partnered and improved fertilizer efficiency and crop yields through a combination of Yara’s agronomic expertise and John Deere’s Precision Technology. This collaboration provided farmers with data-driven recommendations, optimized nutrient use, and maximized productivity.
