  • July 2023: BASF expanded its Xitavo soybean seed portfolio with the addition of its 11 new high-yielding varieties for the 2024 growing season, featuring the Enlist E3 technology to combat difficult weeds.
  • June 2023: BASF, Syngenta, and Arisa collaborated to establish India's Wage Improvement in Seed Hybrids (WISH) initiative. This multi-stakeholder project aims to address child labor and promote compliance with minimum wage standards in the vegetable seed sector. The four-year project is co-funded with a grant from the Dutch Enterprise Agency (RVO).
  • May 2023: Advanta Seeds made an agreement with Embrapa (Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation) to develop hybrid canola seeds with nematode management potential.

  • August 2022: The Government of Uganda, with support from the Government of the Republic of Korea through the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), has launched a nine-year project to develop new varieties of vegetables, strengthen seed certification capacity, and improve the technical skills of vegetable farmers.
  • July 2022: Sixteen farmer groups in Odek Sub-county in Omoro district acquired planting seeds from the East African Ministries [EAM] under the Seed Effect Uganda Project.

  • October 2023: Evergreen Farms, a company that deals with Christmas trees, introduced innovative cultivation methods using advanced agricultural technology. These techniques optimize growth conditions and ensure high-quality trees.
  • December 2022: Whitehill joined other scientists and state and university leaders to mark the launch of construction on a new facility dedicated to the care of the trees' seeds, funded by a grant from the North Carolina Tobacco Trust Fund.
  • October 2020: The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Forest Service modernized its approach to selling Christmas trees. USDA has permitted and made them available to purchase through Recreation.gov.
  • December 2023: India extended the exemption from mandatory inspection certificates for rice exports to select European countries for another six months. This extension applies to both basmati and non-basmati rice exports destined for EU member states and the United Kingdom, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland.

The Sahel system is used to update prices.
  • January 2023: The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA), China, authorized the import of two types of genetically engineered (GE) alfalfa for processing. These approvals, effective from January 5, 2023, to January 4, 2028, mark the first time US GE alfalfa has been approved in China, a significant importer of hay and other forages.
  • January 2023: Spain adopted a Common Agriculture Policy where fodder-growing farmers can receive Basic Income Support for Sustainability and Redistributive Payment. They can also choose to participate in eco-schemes voluntarily. Additionally, those who grow fodder crops like vetches and alfalfa may qualify for the Coupled Payment for Protein Crops.
