- April 2023: Nippon Gases Operations, a division of Nippon Gases Italia, announced the signing of an agreement with Enel Green Power Italia to construct a new plant for the reuse, purification, and liquefaction of CO2, naturally present in the geothermal fluids of the Piancastagnaio power plants in the province of Siena for food purposes. The significant investment is part of a series of operations planned by the company in Italy to improve production capacity, competitiveness, and customer closeness, emphasizing long-term growth.
- January 2023: Iwatani Corporation of America, a wholly owned subsidiary of Iwatani Corporation, announced the acquisition of a leading manufacturer and distributor of bulk liquid industrial gases, Aspen Air US, LLC. The acquisition marks the entrance into the United States Industrial Gases sector and illustrates the expansion focus for this business segment.

- July 2022: Air Products and VPI (a power generator company) signed a joint development agreement for driving the 'Humber Hydrogen Hub' or 'H3', which seeks to develop an 800 MW low-carbon hydrogen production facility in Immingham, United Kingdom.
- June 2022: BASF and Shell evaluated and de-risked BASF's Puristar R0-20 and Sorbead Adsorption Technology for green hydrogen production. The two technologies will purify and dehydrate the product hydrogen stream from the water electrolysis process that can be used for liquefaction and transportation.
- June 2022: Equinor and SSE Thermal jointly acquired Triton Power by purchasing the company from Energy Capital Partners (ECP) to contribute to decarbonization in the United Kingdom. The purchase includes the Saltend Power Station, a conventional combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) plant that uses natural gas as feedstock with an installed capacity of 1.2 GW. Equinor and SSE Thermal are preparing the plant to use up to 30% hydrogen from 2027, with an ambition of 100% hydrogen operation.
- July 2022: Helios Specialty Gases and Iwatani Corporation signed an agreement involving Iwatani, supplying liquid helium to Helious’s transfer facilities in Gujarat, Telangana, and Rajasthan.
- April 2022: Linde signed a long-term helium off-take agreement with Freeport LNG to recover the helium contained in Freeport LNG’s production site in Texas. Linde is expected to construct a new helium processing plant in Freeport to purify and liquefy the recovered helium. The project is anticipated to start in 2024 and provide nearly 200 million cubic feet of helium into Linde's supply portfolio.
- In February 2022, Element Six UK Ltd collaborated with II-VI Inc. Through this collaboration, II-VI licenses Element Six's intellectual property and necessary equipment would produce high-quality single-crystal diamonds to expand its core competency in diamond technology.
- In July 2021, Element Six UK LTD and the University of Warwick entered a partnership to develop the next generation of synthetic diamond-enabled technologies. Under this partnership, Element Six applied its renowned expertise and capabilities in advanced material solutions.
- March 2023: Universal Matter UK Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Universal Matter Inc., announced the acquisition of Applied Graphene Materials UK Limited and Applied Graphene Materials LLC, the principal operating subsidiaries of Applied Graphene Materials PLC. Through the acquisition, the company has strengthened its market presence.
- February 2023: Global Graphene Group announced that Honeycomb Battery Company, an advanced battery technology subsidiary of Global Graphene Group Inc., signed a business combination agreement with Nubia Brand International Corp. to develop battery materials. Honeycomb Battery Company is expected to use graphene produced by the Global Graphene Group.
- August 2022: Universal Matter entered a three-year collaborative innovation agreement with the ChemQuest Technology Institute. Through the agreement, the company has strengthened its growth and validation of Universal Matter’s graphene technology based on sustainable feedstocks.
- Jan 2024: Shell plc's subsidiary, Shell Lubricants, completes the acquisition of the United Kingdom-based MIDEL and MIVOLT from Manchester-based M&I Materials Ltd. It is to manufacture, distribute, and market the MIDEL and MIVOLT product lines as part of Shell’s global lubricants portfolio.
- Oct 2023: Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) and Chevron Brands International LLC, a subsidiary of Chevron Corporation, entered into a long-term agreement encompassing the licensing, production, distribution, and marketing of Chevron’s lubricant products under the Caltex brand. It includes Chevron’s proprietary Havoline and Delo branded lubricant products in India.
- Sep 2023: ENSO Oils & Lubricants partnered with Gazpromneft-Lubricants, a subsidiary of Gazprom Neft PJSC, to expand the distribution of lubricant assets in South Asia. ENSO will import and distribute Gazpromneft-Lubricants' range of oils and lubricants to meet the needs of various industries in India.

- January 2023: Asian Paints planned to invest in a new manufacturing facility dedicated to water-borne paints, boasting an annual capacity of 4 lakh kl. This facility will also produce water-borne wood coatings, with operations slated to begin in 2026. Through this expansion, Asian Paints seeks to bolster its production capacity, aligning with the projected surge in demand for water-borne wood coatings in India.
- December 2022: Sherwin-Williams Company announced the successful completion of its acquisition of the ICA Group. - May 2024: FUCHS Group officially opened its High-Performance Grease Plant (HPGP) in Yingkou, China. The HPGP underscores FUCHS Group's strong dedication to both the Chinese and broader Asia-Pacific markets. It aims to cater to the surging demand for grease products in the region, even in the face of global economic challenges. The plant boasts the capability to produce a comprehensive range of soap-based grease products, catering to diverse sectors such as new energy vehicles, wind power, semiconductors, aerospace, and robotics.
- June 2023: FUCHS Lubricants Co. launched RENOLIT CSX AWE 0, a calcium sulfonate complex grease tailored for truck trailer axle hubs. Formulated with sustainable, lithium-free technology, this grease provides OEMs and fleets with a stable, long-term solution at a consistent price point. In addition, RENOLIT CSX AWE 0 ensures seamless integration, being compatible with legacy axle-bearing greases for straightforward replacement.
- March 2022: Axel Christiernsson International AB launched AXELLENCE 752 EPEF, an environmentally acceptable lubricant that received EU Ecolabel approval for accidental and partial loss applications. This is the first lithium complex grease to attain such certification.
- June 2024: Azelis, a prominent player in the specialty chemicals and food ingredients sector, signed a distribution deal with BASF Corporation. Under this agreement, Azelis will distribute a variety of BASF products, including emulsifiers, ,edium-chain triglyceride (MCT), phytosterol ester, and conjugated linoleic acid (CLA). These products find common applications in bakery items, beverages, and nutritional enhancements for both the retail and food service sectors.
- February 2022: IOI Oleo, the parent company of IOI Oleo GmbH, partnered with DKSH. DKSH will provide business development, marketing, sales, logistics, and distribution services for IOI Oleo's oleochemical specialties in Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Taiwan, South Korea, and Vietnam.
- May 2024: IHI Hauzer Techno Coating BV and IHI Ionbond, both subsidiaries of IHI Corporation, partnered to offer a total solution for PVD coating development, coating services, and equipment for PEMFC (proton-exchange membrane fuel cells) and PEMWE (proton exchange membrane water electrolysis).
- March 2024: PPG Industries Inc. announced the launch of the PPG Nexeon 810 coating. This copper-free antifouling solution prioritizes vessel performance, emissions reduction, and sustainability. Thanks to their superior fouling control capabilities, vessels can experience an immediate power boost of up to 10% and a 15% enhancement in operational efficiency.
- April 2022: PPG Industries Inc. acquired Arsonsisi, an industrial coatings company based in Milan, Italy. This acquisition is expected to help the company enhance its business for low-friction coatings and maximize its reach throughout Europe.
- February 2022: Curtiss-Wright Surface Technologies partnered with BioCote to expand its fluoropolymer coating product range and create Fluregiene 200, an antimicrobial coating ideal for many surfaces and environments, including those applicable to a wide range of parts and components such as door handles, elevator buttons, airport seating, and gym equipment.
- June 2023: ExxonMobil invested approximately USD 264 million in new projects in Baton Rouge area facilities. Under these projects, the company included a new production unit to produce high-grade isopropyl alcohol for microchip manufacturing and a new resin production facility at ExxonMobil’s Port Allen lubricants plant. The project investment decision is expected to be finalized in the first half of 2024.
