Japan Plastic Bottles Industry Overview
The Japanese plastic bottles market is fragmented with the presence of global and domestic players such as Amcor PLC, Takemoto Yohki Co. Ltd, Toyo Seikan Group Holdings Ltd, Kodama Plastics Co. Ltd, and Hosokawa Yoko Co. Ltd. These companies are expanding their business through innovations, collaborations, mergers, investments, and more.
- June 2024: Takemoto Yohki Co. Ltd announced the expansion of its hot fill-compatible PET bottle lineup. Alongside its current 720 ml and 900 ml offerings, the company introduced a new 500 ml variant. A key highlight of these bottles is their uniquely designed panel, featuring smooth and elegant curves for enhanced handling. Capable of withstanding hot fill up to 90°C, these bottles are ideally suited for juices, soft drinks, and sweet sake.
- December 2023: Toyo Seikan Group Holdings Ltd and Idemitsu Kosan Co. Ltd jointly launched a demonstration test focused on recycling plastic scrap material. During the demonstration, Chemical Recycle Japan Co. Ltd, an Idemitsu Kosan subsidiary, will use plastic scrap material sourced from Toyo Seikan Group's manufacturing plants. Idemitsu anticipates producing "renewable chemicals" and "renewable fuel oil" using its existing oil refining and petrochemical equipment.
