Market Trends of North America Swine Feed Industry
This section covers the major market trends shaping the North American Swine Feed Market according to our research experts:
Growing Demand for Pork Meat
Pork is the most popular and widely consumed meat source worldwide, majorly in North American countries. Pork is cheaper than other meat sources, which is a major factor for its high consumption. In addition, its palatability, fat content, and texture fascinates the consumer. The large middle-class population, growing disposable income, and changing consumer preferences are levitating the pork demand. Pork production and consumption are very high in developed countries, such as the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Pork is highly nutritious meat as it contains high protein, and less fat and cholesterol, as compared to beef and other meat sources. It provides a protein-rich meat source for consumers at a low cost, which makes it an affordable animal meat protein source for consumers in the region. Thereby, boosting the demand for swine feed in the region.
United States Dominates the Swine Feed Market
United States in one of the largest consumers of pork among Canada and Mexico which requires greater demand for swine feed. The United States, the third-largest pork producer, has been witnessing a rising demand for high-quality pork, in response to the increasing influence of Asian cuisine and dishes, such as char siu, bulgogi, and banh mi, as well as the rising demand for bacon and pork sausage in the country. This, in turn, may give a boost to the demand for swine feed in order to meet its domestic consumption. Recently, a study was conducted at the North Carolina State University to determine the impact of supplemental black soldier fly larvae oil at various levels on the growth performance in nursery pigs. The study concluded that black soldier fly larvae oil is a promising energy feed ingredient for nursery pigs while improving their performance. In spite of its results showing promising performance on nursery pigs, currently, it is under scrutiny for usage in swine, by the FDA. According to the Enzyme Technical Association, in Mexico, the feed enzymes are no longer regulated. Nonetheless, there are some exemptions, stating if a product claims to have pharmacological, or preventative (disease) ingredients for pigs.
