• April 2024: Sev-Rend, a sustainable and high-performance packaging manufacturer, acquired Wolarmann Enterprises Ltd, a specialized manufacturer of high-quality “Clipping Wire” and “Labels” for various netted products for the produce industry located in Ontario, Canada.
• March 2024: ProAmpac, a flexible packaging manufacturer, signed an agreement to acquire Gelpac, which offers polywoven packaging products and multiwall paper. This acquisition is likely to increase ProAmpac’s capacity and expand its product offering across the United States and Canada.
• December 2023: Delaware-based Inno-Pak LLC, a designer, manufacturer, importer, and supplier of eco-friendly packaging for prepared and takeout foods, acquired Albany Packaging Inc., which specializes in the design and manufacture of custom and stock folding cartons, including bakery boxes and food packaging items such as trays and takeout boxes.

• April 2024: The Coca-Cola Company unveiled its latest sustainability initiative in Hong Kong, introducing 500 ml bottles crafted entirely from recycled plastic for its iconic soda. This move underscores the company's commitment to shrinking its environmental impact. In a groundbreaking step, the renowned beverage corporation transitioned all 500 ml bottles of Coca-Cola Original, Coca-Cola No Sugar, and Coca-Cola Plus in Hong Kong to be exclusively made from 100% recycled polyethylene terephthalate (rPET), marking a pioneering adoption of this material in China.
• October 2023: Coca-Cola India introduced a line of carbonated beverages in fully recycled PET bottles. The iconic Coca-Cola brand was made available in 100% recycled PET (rPET) bottles in 250 ml and 750 ml variants. Coca-Cola's bottling partners, Moon Beverages Ltd and SLMG Beverages Ltd, crafted these sustainable bottles.

• July 2024 - Plast Nordic and Norner partnered to implement alkaline hydrolysis to recycle 97% of PET waste in the Nordics back into raw materials. Their target markets for the 'virgin-quality' rPET resin are the packaging and other industries. The partners are set to recycle around 97% of this waste into raw materials. It believes advanced recycling is the 'only' technology that can achieve circularity without compromising the quality of the recyclate. This initiative is poised to enhance access to recycled materials, reduce transportation needs, and generate new employment opportunities.
• June 2024 - Nordic Plast SIA (LTD), a subsidiary of Eco Baltia AS (JSC) - the foremost environmental resource management group and a prominent player in polymer recycling in the region - is set to invest EUR 1.7 million (USD 1.83 million) in its development. This capital infusion aims to enhance the production capacity of recycled pellets, setting the stage for the company's future expansion. In tandem with this strategic investment and development initiative, Nordic Plast is rolling out a new corporate identity. Such investments would drive the demand for rigid plastic packaging in the region.

• December 2023: SCG Packaging, a Thai-based packaging company, acquired a 70% stake in Starprint Vietnam JSC (SPV), a Vietnam-based packaging company. The acquisition will likely expand SCGP's Vietnamese market footprint and enhance its manufacturing capabilities.
• August 2023: Khee San, the manufacturer of Kiss Me brand candies, entered a strategic cooperation agreement with Wellspire Global Trading, a distributor of a consumer-packaged food company, to distribute and sell its Fruit Plus candies and Kiss Me candy in Thailand.

• May 2024: Gerresheimer Glas GmbH, an indirect subsidiary of Gerresheimer AG, signed a purchase agreement with funds advised by Triton to acquire Blitz LuxCo Sarl, the holding company of the Bormioli Pharma Group. Blitz LuxCo Sarl has a complementary portfolio of plastic pharmaceutical primary packaging, increasing its portfolio in the market studied.
• February 2024: Aptar CSP Technologies, part of AptarGroup Inc. and a significant player in active material science collaborated with ProAmpac, a material science and flexible packaging provider, to develop and launch ProActive Intelligence Moisture Protect, a next-generation platform technology that combines Aptar CSP’s proprietary 3‐Phase Activ‐Polymer technology with ProAmpac’s flexible blown film technology to offer a patent pending moisture adsorbing flexible packaging solution.

• February 2024 - Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi - KEZAD Group, the largest operator of integrated and purpose-built economic zones, welcomed Gulf Biopolymers Industries Ltd (GBI) into its ecosystem. GBI's facility, spanning 135,000 sq. m within KEZAD, marks a significant milestone as the Middle East's pioneer in producing biomass-based, recyclable, and biodegradable polymers. Specifically, GBI's cutting-edge facility, boasting a 30,000 mt annual capacity, is solely focused on the production of PLA, a fully biodegradable material sourced from renewable resources. This strategic move by GBI not only addresses the rising global demand for sustainable products but also underscores its commitment to advancing research and development in the realm of biodegradable polymers.
• April 2024 - SABIC, a Saudi Arabia-based chemical company, announced the successful roll-out of the first circular packaging project in Saudi Arabia to accelerate the implementation of a circular plastic economy. In collaboration with FONTE, a bakery industry player, introduced bread bags made with certified circular polyethylene (PE). The bags are made by Napco National, using food-contact certified circular polyethylene resin grades from SABIC's portfolio.

• April 2024: Klöckner Pentaplast (KP), a Germany-based food packaging manufacturer, achieved a significant milestone by establishing a closed loop for PET trays. It introduced pioneering trays crafted entirely from 100% recycled PET, sourced solely from the trays.
• February 2024: Faerch Group introduced its latest Tumbler range, featuring on-the-go beverage containers with a minimum of 30% post-consumer recycled material.
• August 2023: Holmen Iggesund developed Inverform PET 30. This 30 gsm version of the company's fiber-based and PET-coated ready-to-eat meal trays is expected to reduce the plastic content by more than 25% compared to its predecessor design.

• February 2022 - The United States-based firm Starbucks expanded in the GCC market by opening its 1,000th location. The global coffee house chain has over 22 years of operation in the region.
• December 2022- Alamar Foods, the franchisee for Domino's across the Middle East and countries, successfully established its 600th location in Dubai. With the rising demand for quick-service restaurants, proportional demand for beverages would escalate the need for paper cups in the region.

• January 2024: IFCO, a provider of reusable packaging containers (RPCs), launched Dora, a reusable plastic pallet, across Europe. The IFCO plastic pallet increases efficiency and safety in critical areas across transportation and handling. Transportation costs are significantly reduced because Dora is over 25% lighter than conventional wood pallets.
• March 2024: Orbis launched a longer-life, reusable, recyclable plastic pallet. According to the company's director of marketing, all reusable plastic pallets have been made to address the demand for sustainability.

• April 2023 - The ability to access innovative, sustainable packaging solutions is more important than ever as customers worldwide strive to shift to a circular, net-zero economy. Berry Global, which designs and produces innovative, sustainable packaging solutions, will begin developing its International Center of Excellence and Circular Innovation Hub in Barcelona, Spain, as early as the third quarter of 2023.
• April 2022 - Mondi launched new packaging solutions for the food industry at AnugaFoodTec in Cologne, Germany. Two-tray packaging products provide recyclable options for fresh food manufacturers, which will help to reduce food waste.PerFORMing Monoloopand Mono Formable PP will provide high-barrier food protection, demonstrating how packaging plays a vital role throughout the supply chain.
