Spain Satellite Communications Industry Overview
The market for satellite communication (SATCOM) is fragmented. Partnerships, mergers, innovations, and acquisitions are among the market strategies players use to improve their product offerings and acquire a lasting competitive edge.
- February 2023 - SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launched the latest HISPASAT satellite into orbit. High-performance geostationary satellite Amazonas Nexus will allow inaccessible locations, including the Amazon rainforest or Greenland, to have high-quality Internet connectivity.
- January 2023 - Ovzon's Spanish affiliate Aicox Solutions has placed the company's first order for its SATCOM-as-a-Service. The purchase is for Ovzon's SATCOM-as-a-Service Plus solution, which offers satellite connectivity, Ovzon T6 mobile satellite terminals, gateway access, commercial internet, round-the-clock client support, and terrestrial backbone connection. The order is for the first validation and test phase for a demanding Civil Protection client.
- March 2022 - Indra, a prominent global technology corporation, announced the development of a satellite communications network to allow future heavy aircraft and drones to function as genuine systems of systems, sharing data in real-time to maintain superiority in every mission. The transmission speed of today's most sophisticated onboard equipment will be multiplied by Indra's new SATCOM, which will provide bandwidths of up to 20 megabits per second.
