Such advances are critical to sustaining the accelerating growth of the cloud driven by artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML). These transceivers are used in 25 T and 50 T Ethernet switches with 100 G electrical lanes.

  • December 2023: NextGen Co. Ltd teamed with MATRIXX Software, a player in 5G and digital monetization solutions based in California, to introduce a consolidated billing platform. NextGen leveraged its implementation expertise and technical acumen to build a solution that holistically caters to mobile virtual network operator's (MVNO's) business needs, encompassing both operational support and consulting services.
  • March 2024: Ericsson and Du, from Emirates Integrated Telecommunication Company, declared a strategic alliance to facilitate Ericsson with wireless network products, allowing intelligent services to the government and enterprise sectors in the United Arab Emirates. Under this agreement, both companies joined to design private 4G and 5G networks. They will work closely to enhance connectivity for government and enterprise customers by creating private networks to enable Industry 4.0 adoption and intelligent services.
  • August 2023: Etisalat by E& announced the release of Wi-Fi as a Service, its newest product. This innovative solution was created to improve businesses' connections by expanding their Wi-Fi signal and coverage across their buildings. The comprehensive package allows UAE companies to benefit from improved Wi-Fi without bearing the cost of infrastructure upgrades through end-to-end installation, 24/7 assistance, and reduced OPEX (operating expenses).
  • April 2024: TowerCo. of Africa Uganda secured USD 40 million in funding to expand coverage in the country's rural areas. The financing, to be disbursed over a 10-year period, comes from the European Investment Bank, the Development Bank of Austria (OeEB), and the Belgian Investment Company for Developing Countries. TowerCo. of Africa Uganda plans to install 506 new telecom towers strategically located in rural regions that currently lack mobile network access or where existing networks are saturated. These towers will provide rural communities access to 4G and 5G data services and mobile money solutions and promote financial inclusion.
  • November 2023: Telxius partnered with the Firmina Subsea cable system. This system will connect the US East Coast to Las Toninas, Argentina, with additional landings in Praia Grande, Brazil, and Punta Del Este, Uruguay. Telxius will be hosting Firmina at its Santos digital hub in Brazil.
  • August 2023: STC Group, a pioneer in digital transformation in the Middle East and Africa, announced that its subsidiary, TAWAL, had started its operations in Europe. The acquisition of the telecom tower assets of United Group in the Republic of Bulgaria, the Republic of Croatia, and the Republic of Slovenia, as part of STC’s strategy to grow and expand, and after all relevant regulatory approvals had been received. With the acquisition of the assets, TAWAL currently owns and operates more than 4.800 sites across three countries (Bulgarian, Croatian, and Slovenian) and provides operation services to new clients in those countries.

• October 2023: MediaTek announced a Strategic Partnership with Vivo to strengthen its smartphone AI capabilities. This collaboration will focus on developing and implementing AI models at an unprecedented scale, which will transform the user experience of Vivo devices. One of the key highlights of this collaboration is the deployment of 1B and 7B AI big language models and a 1B AI vision big model directly on the terminal side (On-device Generative AI).

• June 2023: Qualcomm Technologies Inc. announced the extension of its collaboration with the Snapdragon platform, which will power Sony's next generation of smartphones.   • April 2024: Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund PIF agreed to buy a 51% stake in Telecommunication Towers Company Ltd (TAWAL) from STC Group, extending a new tab and paving the way for creating the region's most extensive telecom tower company. Under the agreement, PIF and STC will combine TAWAL and Golden Lattice Investment Company (GLIC) to set up a newly formed company with around 30,000 mobile tower sites.
